Sheldon Garfinkel died Friday morning at Crouse Hospital. Born in Utica he had been a resident of Syracuse for almost 50 years. He was a real estate agent in the Syracuse area for most of his career until retiring.
Shelly was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun.
He will be remembered for his kindness, love of life and passion for his family.
His family includes his wife Susan; their children Lori (Christopher)Beers, and Jill Garfinkel Will); grandchildren Madelyn, Ava, Alex, Lucky, and Liam; his brothers Stuart (Lorraine) Garfinkel, and Marty (Claire) Garfinkel; sister-in-law Gail (Bruce) Berlin; and brother-in-law Joe Heyman .
Funeral services will be at 11AM Sunday, January 15 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee St.
Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery
Contributions in Shelly’s memory in appreciation of the palliative care service at Crouse Hospital may be made to The Berse Memorial Endowment Fund at The Crouse Health Foundation.

Sue, Lori , Jill We're so sorry to hear of the passing of Shelly. He was more than a neighbor, he was a friend. The Yankees are losing a big fan. Our deepest condolences.

To the Garfinkle Family, So sorry to hear of your lost. First met Shelly when he sold us our house. Reconnected when Jill was attending fifth grade at LBE. He was a great man. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Dear Sue and family, I was shocked to hear of Shelly's passing. As I write this there are tears in my eyes and a smile on my face remembering all the time we spent growing up and sharing each others wedding. May he rest in peace. I'm so sad................ Norman
