Lois Markson Dwyer, 86, died Thursday evening at St. Joseph’s hospital with her children Kim and Jay by her side. Born in Brooklyn to Nathan Wesley and Maybelle Grody Markson she had been a resident of Syracuse for most of her life. Her knowledge of the history of her neighborhoods and who lived where for the last 60 years was phenomenal. Lois was a registered nurse, proud graduate of Crouse Hospital School of Nursing, whose caring and skill is still remembered by many people she cared for, as well as the many doctors who valued her service. Though life was at times challenging she always remained positive and moved on. She remained politically aware and socially conscious up until her last days. Lois was especially proud to “be a Markson”.
Lois was pre-deceased by her beloved sister Audrey Markson Simon and son Jody Dwyer.
Her family includes her children, 2 grandchildren, her nephews; and many cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3PM on Sunday February 19 at May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society.
