Candace “Candy” Sue Wayne, 70, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday at her home in Vernon, NY. She was the beloved daughter of Dr. Jerome and Eileen Wayne; and is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Peter Matlow, her nieces Hilary Jones, Robyn Shiroff, and nephew Daniel Matlow. Candy’s father founded the mental health association of Onondaga County, originally as a parent’s support group. Candy had a life-long affinity for music and surprised everyone with her extensive knowledge of lyrics. She was loved by those who knew her for her sunny disposition and strong personality as well as a playful and humorous streak.
The family would like to thank the staff of Candy’s home in Vernon for the loving care they have given her for many years; the staff at the Bridge Street Day Habilitation Center, and Hospice of New Hartford, NY.
Funeral services will be at 1PM on Friday December 15 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Burial will be with her parents in the Temple Concord section of Woodlawn Cemetery. There will no calling hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3175 E. Genesee Street, Syracuse.
